Scroll down to see some unexpected ways to use Listerine:
1. Make your underarms smell fresh
Sometimes you need deodorant, but you’re fresh out. But Luckily, you can use Listerine to remove the smell of sweat, too. Simply pour a few drops on a cotton ball and dab it gently under your arms.
2. Eradicate nail fungus
According to the website “Top 10 Home Remedies,” Listerine can get rid of nail fungus. Simply fill a foot bath with Listerine and soak your feet for half an hour. Your feet will soon be fresh, soft, and smelling good! Some people also recommend adding vinegar for particularly difficult cases.
3. Clean the toilet bowl
This might not be the most economical tip, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. Listerine can make your toilet both clean and smell fresh. All you have to do is pour a little mouthwash in the bowl and scrub it with a brush.
4. Keep trash from smelling bad
The smell of garbage can literally make your life stink. One way to get rid of the stench is to line the bottom of a garbage bag with a piece of Listerine-soaked paper. Your trash will smell much fresher!
5. Sterilize your toothbrush
Toothbrushes can easily accumulate bacteria. One option is to boil it, but some people soak their toothbrush in a glass of Listerine overnight instead. Smart!
6. Soothe an itch
Allergic reactions, hives, insects bites, bee and wasp stings—they can all be alleviated with mouthwash.
Dental hygienist Carrie Ibbetson writes, “Listerine is my go-to source for stopping bug bites from itching like crazy.”
7. Deodorize your washing machine
Washing machines tend to smell bad after a while. Luckily, mouthwash kills bacteria and acts as a disinfectant. Pour a few ounces of Listerine into your empty washing machine and run it through a rinse cycle. It should soon be clean and smelling fresh.
8. Clean your computer screen
Most people would think you’re a little crazy if you started spraying Listerine on your computer or TV screen, but it’s a good way to clean this type of surface. Spray some on a dirty screen and wipe away fingerprints and residue with a cloth. As an added bonus, your computer will smell minty. Not bad, right?
